Sentimental Journey: Songs & Stories of Harmony, Heritage & the Homefront
From the Barrio to the Battlefield
Presented by Jeudi Cornejo Brealey
with Richard Berent on piano.
In a season dedicated to remembrance (VE Day, D-Day, Memorial Day, and the coming 4th of July) Jeudi invites you on a heartfelt Sentimental Journey—part cabaret, part poetry reading, part storytelling—that reveals World War II through the perspective of her family’s experience.
Tracing her family’s immigrant journey, Jeudi honors the greatest generation’s sacrifice—five tíos serving in different military branches and her mom and tía laboring in airplane factories. Jeudi paints a vivid picture of duty and unity from the vibrant barrio where her family found community, to the battlefield, this one-of a-kind evening is a tender tribute to heritage, resilience, and enduring hope—celebrating the music, in English and Spanish-- that brought comfort, lifted spirits, created harmony and kept hope alive even through the hardest of times.
Experience an intimate evening of songs and stories that honor history while lighting the way forward.

Jeudi Cornejo Brealey, the “Vintage-Voiced Chanteuse” and creator of the wildly popular Jazz-Age juke box musical “Love Outshines the Moon”* is once again taking up residence at the Jeweled Universe, this time with her Joie de Diva monthly cabaret concert series, exploring different musical themes designed to lighten your woes and transport you to a joyous place. Let’s time-travel together via song!
Jeudi continues her post-concert hat sale to benefit her friend, milliner, Andie Cohen- Healy in the aftermath of her losses in the Eaton Fire. 100% of these hat sales go directly to Andie's GoFundMe page.
Jeudi says: "The Jeweled Universe is my "Home in Pasadena" (If you know, you know). This special setting is a unique artistic boutique that celebrates the visual, wearable and performing arts. It's a delightful place filled with treasures perfectly suited for grown up Easter baskets."
As always, vintage or festive attire is encouraged!
